Greetings feline aficionados! Skye Blake here, sniffing out info on all kinds of cat breeds. I’m not a fancy feline but sure have a lot of relatives who are!

Most breeders participate in cat shows where you can see the cats and talk to them in person.
There are other reputable breeders but you must investigate carefully to be sure their cats are healthy and of sound stock.
So Many Breeds of FELIS SYLVESTRIS CATUS

There are so many of us fancy felines… too many types to list here. Instead I’ve found some good trails you can follow to satisfy your curiosity.
Felis sylvestris catus has over 45 pedigreed breeds recognized by the Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA) and 71 accepted by The International Cat Association (TICA).
If you want to find good, responsible breeders, check the CFA and TICA websites. The breeders they list must register with them.
It’s easy to get lost in the beauty and fascinating histories of these purebreds!

Tuxedo Cat Lovers (public)
There are many more specific breed Facebook groups. Just search on Facebook for the breed you want.
You’ll find cat lover groups, breeder pages and rescue groups. A note of caution: be sure any breeder is legitimate… there are many scams out there.
Joining specific breed groups and reading their posts will give you an idea of breeder reputations.

Sources
Sources used on this website are either primary or secondary.
Primary sources are always preferable and have the most reliable information because they’re original and directly referenced.
Scientific abstracts and data are good examples of primary sources.
Secondary sources are weaker because they usually consist of opinions or articles that give no sources of their own.
However, sometimes they refer to primary sources.
When I use secondary sources, most are those with some authority, such as veterinarian or cat behaviorist books and articles.
