Greetings feline lovers everywhere! Skye Blake here, hot on the trail of cats in the movies.
Since the movies began over 100 years ago, the camera has favored us fabulous felines!
No matter what cinematic genre… mystery, horror, drama, comedy, cartoons, even documentaries… we cats have made our mark.
If you’re 6 or 96, you can think of feline movie stars you love. Who’s your favorite?
Cats have been in the movies since film was developed!
We can be found sneaking through a scene, running away from a bad guy, or cuddling in the lap of a lovely lady.
We run the gamut from terrifying monsters in horror flicks to fluffy cuties in romances, to funny sidekicks and cartoon wisecrackers in comedies.
Lists of Movies With Cats
There are lists of cats in movies you can enjoy. They’re always being added to and improved.
Cinema Cats – This is the most complete site I’ve discovered. It lists every movie with a domestic cat in it, whether it’s featured or just moseyin’ through a scene.
The movies are indexed by these categories (then alphabetically by film)…
More Movie Lists
Other lists are available and some include wild cats as well as domestic pets.
So films like “Born Free”, “Baby”, and “The Jungle Book”, are listed here that aren’t listed at Cinema Cats.

Sources used on this website are either primary or secondary.
Primary are always preferable and have the most reliable information because primary sources are original and directly referenced.
Scientific abstracts and data are good examples of primary sources.
Secondary sources are weaker because they usually consist of opinions or articles that give no sources of their own.
However, sometimes they refer to primary sources.
So, when I use secondary sources most are those with some authority, such as veterinarian or cat behaviorist books and articles.
